Inspirational Films – The Classics & The New
I just love old Black & White inspirational films. I don’t know why, but it probably is because back in the old days, to make a movie was a big deal and they would only do it if the story (or inspiration) was really good.
Now-a-days you can the same plot lines, same stories with different characters and different events made over & over again. Nothing really new and fresh – just old, rehashed plot lines adapted to something else.
I actually talk about an old 1949 black & white movie – “The Fountainhead” here on this site. Great movie.
It may sometimes be difficult to find to rend or buy old movies to watch.
However, now with the power of the internet it may be easier than ever. You can just head over to Amazon and get them.
I found a good list with plenty of them here: http://www.amazon.com/Black-White-movies-you-need/lm/E4AMCMRZH0PS
You can check it out. I’ll probably post some more recommendations soon – if I haven’t already and let you know what’s great. But basically old inspirational films can be great.
Old action films – not so great. Old horror films… neah! But maybe, I don’t know 😀
But hey! There are great inspirational films made today too. It’s probably even harder to find those out of all the other films released every week and they probably don’t have great marketing to begin with.
But the think I’ve noticed is that the best inspirational films are usually adapted after a book. The book wasn’t originally written to be an inspirational film, but someone found it and saw it’s movie potential.
Fight Club was made after the book by Chuck Palahniuk (also Choke!).
Peaceful Warrior was made after the book by Dan Millman.
And I could probably go on and on about these.
The thing we really want is inspiration, and we get this faster than reading a book through inspirational films. And when it comes to inspiration it doesn’t really matter what form it comes in – black & white movies or full color movies.
If it’s good – it doesn’t matter, does it?
So check out the inspirational films I recommend on this site, and if you think anything is missing just leave me a comment here with YOUR recommendations – sometimes I might forget, or don’t know about it. I’m sure everyone will be grateful if you have a good recommendation for them. We’re all in this together!
So go ahead and give me some names of inspirational films you think would be a great addition to this site.
